El Toro Bravo

El Toro Bravo

The use of automotive parts in my sculptures has always been a passion of mine, as I am able to breathe new life into these mechanical components and give them a new purpose as works of art. This piece began with a brake caliper from a Lamborghini. The owner had an engine fire that ultimately totaled the vehicle, so I was fortunate enough to rescue a few parts off of it. Over the course of creating this sculpture, I learned that although Lamborghini is an Italian company, they use Spanish names for their models after names used in bull fighting. The founder, Ferruccio Lamborghini, was so inspired by the strength and resilience of the Spanish fighting bull that he incorporated it into his logo. The title of this piece is “El Toro Bravo” which is Spanish for “The Brave Bull.”
